Berg Guitares Electriques
by Jonathan Berg
From the top of my five senses, the guitar took me before it even came into the world (a guitarist father can be heard, even in a belly). After that, everything went on: one or two guitars that sit in the living room, stories about an accordionist great-grandfather in old Paris, a harmonica in the toy box. And then the slap: an uncle, watching me grow up, hands me an old compilation of Jimi Hendrix in the face of my twelve years. What to say.
Alignment of planets or rather divine revelation in the electric church!
I crossed the threshold and saw a world, a field of possibilities with the appearance of infinity, stained glass windows with more varied colors than their patterns and a preaching more mesmerizing than a voodoo incantation. This is where my meeting with the guitar took place. My five senses have sealed this pact without even reading the clauses of the contract: from now on I will never be far from one of them.
Time has passed. I have since graduated in classical guitar manufacturing in 2005 and I have designed and produced many tailor-made guitars, whether jazz, folk or electric (special mention to my workshop partner Vincent Lottenberg).
Some of our creations have allowed us to meet big names in the guitar interested in the quality and originality of our models. What could be more rewarding and stimulating to continue your quest?
I also devoted a lot of my time to the restoration of electric guitars of the first hour that are called “vintage” today, and to the expertise of these same models during auction preparations in particular. I was lucky to be able to touch, analyze, dissect, play and above all understand many of these wonderful instruments.
